My November 2024 trip to Caprock Canyons State Park wasn’t planned. My friend Russell and I set out to visit Palo Duro Canyon during the cool fall months, but when we arrived, heavy rains had closed many of the trails and campsites. So instead of spending the entire weekend at Palo Duro, we made a last-minute executive decision to visit Caprocks on our last day/night of the trip. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed by the historic bison herd and spent a magical night in one of the canyons enjoying a great sunset.
